Why cost center is required in WBS

Hi,

In WBS there is a field to maintain responsible cost center and what we have seen is if we maintain cost center than system displays the information of costs which is posted against WBS in CJI3 transaction. If we remove the cost center then it is not displaying the costs.

My question is, WBS is a cost object, then why we need to maintain cost center once again in WBS. If we maintain two cost objects then in which objects costs will be captured?

If anyone has come across same issue, kindly explain.
